Along with issues of your data validity comes the important matter of database consistency. Verifying database consistency determines if your database has any incorrect entries. Database consistency compares all the records that it pulls from remote WINS databases with those in its local database. Based on what it finds in the comparison, it does one of the following two actions:
■ If the record in the local WINS database is an exact match of the record that was pulled from the remote owner database, the local record is time stamped with that of the record owner's database.
■ If the record that is pulled from the remote owner database has a higher version ID (meaning that it is the most recent record) than the local copy of that record, it is marked for deletion and the remote record copy is added to the local database.
